I saw the trailer to this as a kid and went crazy in the theater. I then saw it and enjoyed it. I mean I was 7 so there was no way I wasn't going to like it. Now my kids have been asking to watch this one more and more. I'd say more than the original. They really love the end to the first but I think there are some slow parts for kids that bore them. Two moves a bit faster pace imo. Since I've seen the move twice in 2 days thanks to the kids I'd figured we do a Random Movie Thoughts on it.

-I can't believe this came out in 1989. Feels like 1992 or something. Can't explain it.

-Egon's hair is taller than ever.

-Loved seeing a broke down Ecto 1. We need a Hot wheels Elite of this.

-Dana was hot in the red in GB1. Never hot again in any movie at any time.
-I wish I could watch World of the physics with Bill Murry for real.

-Those guys make a crap attempt at stopping that baby carriage.

-I like the haunted painting bit. Think hes a creepy enough but you never feel the weight of "the world is ending like in GB1".

-The Ghostbusters digging the hole in the middle of the street is probably one of the funnier parts of the movie. Bill of course leads the charge.

-No Winston of course digging. He gets shit on per usual.

-I love how Ray freaks out and hits one pipe and the whole city goes dark.

-Tully is great in all the court stuff. Very funny.
-I love the court bust. Two great spookes, lots of proton streams. I think both movies could have had more busting. I want more of this! There just isn't enough.

-Get to see the new Ecto-1A which I loved as a kid. I entered a contest at the store to win one. I didn't win... I wonder who won it and what happened to it? Was it the real car? Replica? My son says it looks better too. I now enjoy the classic Ecto 1. Less is more but as a kid you love A1.

-You see some great stuff during the music video. Stuff I would want to see not just quick clips of. Again not enough busting.

-Jeanine is back and just odd. I really don't like it. She goes from normal secretary with an edge or attitude to trying to be sexy and now just seems like a dumb bimbo or something. Its almost seems like not the same person but it is.
-This movie takes like no chances what so ever. They took the safest of safe routes making this movie. Its like the same as the first but subbed in different ghosts and Vigo. Bill said the movie looked nothing like what he was told it would be. I think Sony got cold feet since the Real Ghostbusters was so huge and didn't want to keep parents from taking their kids. So they played it safe. Had Dan change it up from what he showed Bill. I mean they don't even smoke... No Twinkies either.

-The GB sign shows a "2" fingered ghost? So they are breaking the 4th wall? They know its a movie? Always thought the GB 2 logo was silly. Not a chance I go that route if it were my choice.

-So the door locks and Egon and Ray are trapped next to the fire. Winston then breaks the door down... So one side had the lock... If its on the outside why does he smash a door down? If its on the inside why don't they just unlock it?

-Probably the only original new thing in this movie was the river of slim. I enjoy all those parts and how it works with emotion.

-The slim throwers was pretty great, I had that toy.

-The Titanic scene was always a favorite. I still have my Hardees glass with the ship on it.

-I never realized that the ghost who took Oscar looked like Janosz...Until now.. Huh.

-I always liked the Liberty scene. Its just he Melo Man part of the movie basically. Loved the NES Advantage is driving the thing..All pretty crazy really.
-The last Fight with Vigo is so quick. Not enough streams and slim! seems like it ends fast. Ray turns to Vigo for like a hot second. Can't you imagine if Rayigo run off, grab Ecto and the GB have to follow to save their friends life? Would have been better right? Hire me.. when I was 7.
GB2 is what it is. Its Ok. It really builds very little from the first and tells almost the same story. Its a bit of a bummer. If anyone says its better than the first they drank to many Ecto Coolers. Played it way to safe and not enough Buster action imo. I still like it but series still has one great movie to its name. On the bright side. The 2nd NES game is a bit better than the first GB game...

I have the three GB2 comics which shows some deleted scenes with Ray driving like a nut in Ecto and crashing. Worth checking out and cool little vintage comic.

The real Ghostbuster toys were amazing. I had so many. I'm lucky I still have most of them and my kids now play with them. Kenner did a hell of a job for the most part. The minor complaints would be we never saw any of the great spooks from the show like the sandman,boogedy and many others. Also the proton packs didn't take much of a beating. I remember my streams snapping off and other things on them breaking and I was a kid who didn't play rough. The ghosts we did get all had fun elements like spitting water, shooting objects and popping eye balls. The line gets more and more expensive to collect. I just spent $100 on Ecto Glow Egon so I should know..

The original four GBs will cost you a lot on Ebay. I just saw a graded 85+ Peter go for $700...So yeah they hold value. Of course condition matters but I've found a few at flea markets for almost nothing sealed(gross Grandma for $1 and Freighters Ray for $15). I really wish I could find a sealed Ecto but that isn't happening or I'd have to pay for it. Please feel free to share any of your RGB in the comments! This was a really tough list to make since I had so many..

10. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
My issue with him as a kid was his size. He's just to small. He can fit in the fire house! I used to use a story line in my head that he got shrunk down by Egon just so I could stand using him. He is still a must for this toy line and I had my fun dragging him with Ecto 1. I always wanted the bigger plush one but never got it.

9. Slimer
I had the opposite issue with Slimer, He's huge! I wish he would have just been one of the ghost to come with the GB. He'd be scaled right at least. I did enjoy his half eaten rubber pizza.

Random Movie Thoughts

I went into Ghostbusters with an open mind. Its one of my fav movies ever and cartoons. Toys, video games. I love everything. I didn't freak at the all female cast or the terrible theme song by Fall Out Boy and a awful trailer. Is it the the GB reboot I wanted? No not by a long shot but its been so long I thought whatever. Its just good to see Ghostbusters on the screen again. I looked at this reboot and this movie like a "spoof" of the original GB. Its more over the top and the comedy comes first. Its is  it own thing to me. Here's my quick random thoughts.

-A lot of the jokes miss. Like no one laughed in the theater. Some what awkward moments. I will say I think these actors and writers, directors work better with rated R stuff.

-Some stuff was funny and had me laughing but there are a lot of misses.

-Thought all the four girls had funny moments and fit in and had a role on the team that was used through out the movie.
-The comedy comes first. To me the Original GB is science fiction first and comedy second. This is a pure comedy. I prefer it the other way around.

-Loved the gear more than the I thought I would. The new way to open the trap and all that was great.

-You only see them trap one ghost!!

-The new Ecto shots were pretty great. Don't care for the car as much but thought it was well showed.
-The Villain was lacking. Should have had a better actor.

-Thor was pretty funny. He had the least comedy misses.

-Really enjoyed Kate McKinnon. I love her on SNL so that isn't surprising. My wife thought she was too much of a cartoon at times which I can see.

-McCarthy is held on a lease since we know she does better when she can yell f words.

-I really liked all the proton throwing and use. Lots of ghosts get toasted by beams(but not crazy about that) . My only gripe with the Original GB is that THEY DON'T BUST ENOUGH GHOSTS! Here they do that but only trap one... so mixed bag.

-The ending is alright, nothing really funny happens in the 3rd act. The big ghost gets taken down by chance and comedy which is like "mehhhh" The original you thought ok these guys are giving their lives and crossing the streams to save NYC. Again science before comedy. With Slimmer driving Ecto into the vortex...Comedy first.

-Seeing all the busters in random roles was a bit off. I only liked Hudson's since he had the funnest line. Thought all the others were lame or misses on the comedy.

-Movie goes blue screen crazy in the end. Looks terrible at times. I'm not a fan of ton of special effects.

-This leads to my biggest issue. The special effects are awful. I hate the choice that was made to make everything look like a fruit snack. Its like they hired the special effects guy from the Casper movie to do the ghosts and special effects. The effects in the original look far better and these effects will cause the movie to age poorly. From the proton streams to the ghosts. The 1984 effects are more real. This to me goes back to the comedy first thing. Its the only thing about the movie I couldn't stand or hated.
-Ghosts are destroyed my proton streams alone?

-Looks like there will be a second movie.

Its not great or bad. Its a mix bag to me and I think a lot of kids will enjoy it which is a good thing since Ghostbusters is for kids. I never thought it was scary and think some RGB episdoes are scarier. That being said the grown up in me would like to see a more serious and scarier Ghostbusters. One that is aimed at me, and it looks like Sony is willing to really use the licence now so who knows. I know this spoof one will go on to make a second but I really hope we get a science first one.

Intros are what get you pumped. As a kid when these intros hit I was going crazy. Ready to jump into whatever world I was going to enter. I don't think today's intros are even in the same league as these. Hell some don't even bother with one. To me this is the best of the best. First lets check out what just missed the cut.

Pro Stars-Michael Jordan, BoJackson and The great one all team up. Great theme song.
Mario Bro 3- SMB3 now a Cartoon? sign me up.
Jem-I didn't watch this............every morning before school.
Cops-Very Raw intro, pretty good.
Sliver Hawks-Just missed the cut. Would be 11th. Lots of awesome rock.

10.American Gladators

It was always very late on a Saturday night. Around Midnight. My dad and I would watch the news and then some other crappy show(can't remember) and then bam! The intro of all these steroided freaks being introduced so they could go on to beat the crap out of the common man. My dad and I would bet dimes on the competitors... Ahh gambling with you're father over AG, heart touching memories.

9.X-Men

I had to run the whole way from the bus stop to make this intro. I always did too. I didn't want to miss the drama with the Phoenix Saga or if Logan was going score with Jean. I intro blasts you in the face with a catchy tune and all the x-men.

8.M.A.S.K

This Intro is very 80s. Reminds me of the soundtrack for the Transformers movie from around the same time. This is pure rock and its awesome. The show I felt was not as good as the toys. Loved the toys... The Show was alright.

7.Ducktales

Talk about catchy.. This thing used to get stuck in my head for what it felt like the whole episode. The show was great too.

6.Pee-Wee Playhouse

If you weren't awake yet on Saturday when this came on than you were after this intro. Talk about high energy. I loved the claymation that it starts out with. Pretty decent length as well.

5.Batman the Animated Series

There isn't many things that hit the tone and style of Batman on the head like the show and intro did in BTAS. I used to get so pumped when the Batmobile is rolling. Just an outstanding and dark intro that sets the tone for the show. I could easily do a top 10 BTAS episode list.

4.The Real Ghostbusters

It was hard putting this at 4 since I would go banana's when this came on. It was the number one show I look forward to for some time. The intro is great, we get Stay Puff, Ecto and everything with a a Ghostbuster theme that rivals the movies. They did change it up in season 3 or 4 when the show started to go south. The change was for the worse, along with song.

3.TMNT

Man this intro just kicks your ass. Not to mention how catchy it is. I remember it getting stuck in my head all day. Seemed like every kid at school was humming it too. The intro is a bit dark which is great and the way the show started but as season 3 came it seemed to get lighter.

2.Knight Rider

One man and one car driving through a desert is all I needed to get me hyped for Knight Rider. Not to mention one of the best 80s theme songs... Might be the best. Its my ringtone and listen to it on my phone as a MP3. Non fans know it. Match the theme song with some great shots from show and car flying in the desert and you had me sucked in. The voice over is perfect as well.

1.Thundercats

This was easily number 1. The "Thunder..Thunder... THUNDERCATS HO! Would have me running to grab my sword of omens to follow along in the action. Its such a action packed intro that it sucks you right in. Animation is outstanding and seeing things like the Thundertank ripping through the screen locks you into the show. For whatever reason I also loved the shiny logo at the end too. Just perfect.

Here’s your first look at Ray and Winston from Diamond Select Toys upcoming Ghostbusters line:

These look amazing. They blow those over price Mattey collector crap(which I refused to buy) out of the water. Since these have been announced I have seen a mass listing of the Mattey collector ones. These are going to be around $25. A bit steep if its just for one but at least they look great. I hope DS can make a Ecto with some lights like they did with BTTF and Kitt.

Crooked Ninja drops the bomb that the classic 6 inch Shredder and Krang have been canned.

Through a brief convo on Twitter with Pixel Dan info surfaced that the TMNT 6″ Classic Collection Krang and Shredder have been cancelled as of right now. Dan was at Toy Fair so he has first-hand knowledge of what is going on with Playmates via their reps present so I take his word as fact. He mentions that there may only be a glimmer of hope of seeing them once the new movie hits.

NOOOOO! Loved the the original 4 turtles which I own. My guess is the movie 6 inch turtles bombed bad which caused these to be axed. I didn't think the movies edition looked good at all. Might be some small hope these see the light of day.

Get some awesome nostalgia wax packs from TopHatSasquatch! Cult Film Club discuses a favorite of mine Mannequin. It was one I watched with my mother many times. We still quote it. I can watch these Board James videos all day(board games fans who like F words..this is a must).

Sometimes I wonder if I force the things I enjoyed or like on my son. He loves Knight Rider,BTTF,TMNT,Batman,Ghostbusters.... Maybe I should just let him discover these things or what he likes on his own. Then again we are having some fun while doing it. 

The Real Ghostbusters is a amazing show. It might be my favorite childhood show of all time. The first 3 and half to 4 seasons are some of the best stuff you could find in a cartoon at the time. The voice acting was top notch. The story telling dared to dream big and did so. Every Saturday morning I stood in front of my TV pretending with my toy proton pack and following the action.
A few years back Time Life made a complete set of the series. All the season in one awesome fire house box set with bonus interviews, pilot episode and tons more. It was pretty pricey($125) but I think it was worth every penny as my son is now enjoying the show. About mid way through the 4th season it drops off with the writing and voice acting team changing. In the first 3 seasons I can't think of any episodes I don't like. After that its hit or miss. The first season alone is pure gold. There are parts I am sure parents weren't crazy about. It gets pretty scary at times but that is what makes it great. At the end with the Slimer stuff is just pure awful and killed the series by making him the central character. But even with that it should be handed down to new generations of Ghostbuster fans. The great thing is that every episode is on Youtube so you don't have to shell out big money to enjoy these. Comment any episodes you feel I missed on! I love talking about this show.

10.Something is going around-Season 4
Peter is sick and Louis finds a doctor. It turns out the Doctor is a ghost and gives the Ghostbusters these "healthy" chips that really make them allergic to ghosts. I enjoyed this one as a kid since the Ghostbusters get all gross looking since their bodies physically react to ghosts. One of the few good post season 3 episodes  Full Episode Here

9.Flip Side-Season 4
I always found this one just fun. The Ghostbusters end up in another dimension where this New York and populated by Ghosts and people are busted. So who are you going call? Well Peoplebusters of course! I always wished that Kenner put out these Peoplebusters but never did. Full Episode Here

8.Mrs.Rogers Neighborhood-Season 1
This this one is full of creep as the Ghostbusters are called to help poor Mrs.Rogers with Ghost in house. They of course let her stay at the firehouse while they do the job. Come to find out she is really a Demon and takes over Peters body and tries to open the containment unit. Between Peter being creepy as hell and the plot this makes for a awesome episode that sets the tone for the rest of the season. Full Episode Here

7.Mr.Sandman Dream Me a Dream-Season 1
The sandman thinks the world might stop fighting its self if takes a 500 year old nap. Its a bit of wacky episode but I think the Sandman character is great with amazing voice work. Again Kenner where was this toy?!?! This one features Winston as the main Ghostbuster which is a good change.

6.When Halloween was Forever-Season 1
A great Halloween Episode! Their is some ancient ruins that are brought to New York and it contains the spirit of  Samhain who is a spooky pumpkin looking dude(Kenner??) who want Halloween to last forever which is isn't the worst idea I have ever heard. Full Episode Here

5.Slimer Come Home-Season 1
I don't care for Slimer centered episodes so much but this one always scared me because I thought the lead poltergeist ghost was a giant creep. He would open his coat up and showing off his belly... Just seemed odd. Slimer screws up Winston's B-day party and Peter lets him have it which leads him to leaving which I say 'Great!". Maybe if he would have stayed gone we would never get Silmer taking over the show in the later seasons. Full Episode Here

4.Take Two-Season 1
This one is a neat episode as the Ghostbusters are called to the set of the Ghostbusters movie being made. There is a ghost that is causing problems and the gang fly out to Hollywood. They even mention the cast from the movie and show scenes from the movie at the end which is pretty cool as a kid. You gotta love how the movie and this show work together. Full Episode Here

3.The Boogieman Cometh-Season 1
Who wasn't afraid of the Boogieman in their closet as a kid? He is a pretty scary character and used to have me checking my closet for him as a kid. Again Kenner drops the ball and never made a toy of him. The Ghostbuster go after the Boogieman in his nightmare world and has them running through different bedrooms. Wonder if Monsters Inc came from this episode? Egon remembers the Boogieman from his childhood so wants to put a stop to it. The Boogieman isn't even a ghost which leads to a issue. There is this one part where Winston shoots the Boogieman through the window outside which is pretty dangerous.If he kills the kids... yeesh... Bad PR.  Full Episode Here

2.Citizen Ghost-Season 1
This is a amazing episode. If I didn't feel my number 1 was so epic and intense this would easily be number 1. As a kid this was my favorite(again Kenner?? where are the ghost Ghostbusters?). You get a great flash back story on the events hours and days after the Gozer show down. You even get to see the guys in their old brown flight suits and how the colored ones came into the picture. It also ties Slimer and his story to the Ghostbusters of how joined them. Again, the way this cartoon uses the movie is fantastic. Grabbing from the movie just makes it legit in a kids mind.
The problem starts as the guys return from heir fight with Gozer and Peter and given the task to dispose of the flight suits that have Stay puff all over them. Peter gets lazy and leaves them in a box in the basement. The suits then fill themselves with the Spectral Ghostbusters who want to kill and replace the Ghostbusters. The Spectral Ghostbusters are aggressive and out for blood. The Ghostbusters spend most the episode dodging proton pack fire. Its a must watch for any Ghostbuster fan(you younger fans for sure) Full Episode Here

1.Knock Knock-Season 2
Knock Knock could easily be a full length movie. Its better than Ghostbuster 2. A construction worker is working on the subway and stumbles onto the door way to hell. Its isn't suppose to open until the end of the world. Well it opens and all the evil from hell is unleashed on New York. There is great creepy moments with a rowing boat of dead people, a dead subway trip and a spooky talking tree.
Where it really turns up is in the end where the Ghostbusters have to shut the door. It is intense scene where they are basically going to die shutting this thing and acknowledge that. The voice acting is phenomenal and the shots of the proton packs over heating and the PKE going crazy add to the moment. Egon leads the Ghostbusters into the door stressing that this could be it. The build up and moment are pretty intense for a kids show. It even has great lines of detail as Egon barks out commands on what setting the proton packs should be(WIDE ANGEL!). Its just epic...
